It’s That Time of the Year Again – Dahlia Season is Back!
One of my favourites, with their bright, bold colours and oh-so-satisfying symmetrical petals – the Dahlia is one of the perfect flowers to complete any arrangement. 💐
Native to Mexico, there are over 42 species of dahlias, coming in almost every colour. They range in size – from small blooms that fit in the palm of your hand to the size of a large dinner plate. Our absolute favourite is the Cafe au Lait dahlia. It’s as big as your face!
Did you know dahlias were originally classified as a vegetable? Their roots, or tubers, resemble sweet potatoes and they have been eaten for thousands of years.
Although they begin to bloom in midsummer, they continue to flower right up until the end of the fall. With so many different sizes, styles and colours, Dahlia’s are one flower that you’ll never stop learning about. There are so many different versions of these incredible flowers that they always make for an incredible gift for loved ones or co-workers.
