Decorating Your Home for the Holidays
This time of year, I want to do everything I can to slow down and enjoy every moment. I love the falling leaves, a warm cup of coffee, being wrapped in a blanket with a good book, and the change of season.
I am not the biggest fan of snow, sleet-covered roads, and cold that chills you to the bone. What I do love about the winter season is family, comfort food, sitting by the fire with a glass of red wine, and decorating my home for the holidays.
Due to COVID, many preparations for Christmas and the holidays are happening before Remembrance Day. Because I have so much respect for those who fought for our freedom, I feel conflicted talking about the holidays ahead of Remembrance Day.
During these conditions, I believe that we can be respectful for both Remembrance Day and the upcoming holiday season.
This week we will be taking part in Homes for the Holidays, an annual fundraising event to raise funds for Hospice Care Ottawa. Tivoli has taken part in this important event since Homes for the Holidays began in 2002.
We have decorated many private homes and Embassies in Ottawa and this tour is one of the biggest fundraisers for Hospice Care.
The tour has been virtual both last year and will be again this year.
A lot of planning and preparation goes into decorating someone else’s home and it is an event that the team and I look forward to with renewed excitement every year.
With that feeling of joy, I can’t help but have my mind move towards the holiday season and sourcing holiday giftware for you.
With all the scary news in the media, we know that we will continue to have supply chain issues into next year and beyond.
To alleviate your holiday shopping concerns, I’d like to introduce you to some of my favourite finds.
