It’s that time of year when the temperatures at night are getting chillier, the leaves are starting to change colour and our thoughts turn to everything and anything pumpkin spiced.
Don’t get me wrong, I know there are lots of beautiful summer filled days left, but in the floral world, we are always about 6 weeks ahead of the rest of the world.
Autumn is one of my favourite seasons and I wish it would last so much longer than it does. With the new season approaching comes our next switchover of planters.
I have pulled together some of my favourite planters from last year to help you get inspired.
When you think of fall, most people will usually think of yellows, red and orange tones. But don’t feel like you have to stick with the traditional colour palette. For this client here, we did a mix of pink, purple, white and green since those are the colours that she prefers. I used a mix of white Mexican heather, hot pink kalanchoe, green succulents, burgundy grasses and purple aster.
I really like the texture in this one. Here I used a mix of purple mums purple kale, yellow kalanchoe, Jerusalem cherries, burgundy grasses, small birch branches, ghost pumpkins and dried millet.
In these planters, I was able to save the asparagus fern that we planted in the summer and added the fall florals to it. Using a mix of yellow and orange kalanchoe, dried millet and cat tails, birch branches and crotons gave these planters the texture that I was looking for.
If you would like me to come to your home or business to plant your fall planters, just send me an email or give us a call at the shop. I am usually aim for mid September to get everything planted so hurry and get your date scheduled!
Thank you so much for all the great ideas — I love the detailed descriptions. Very helpful.
Thank you so much Annette!
