Floral Arrangements for All Special Occasions
As I write this, I am sitting on my front porch with a steaming cup of coffee in hand, looking at the beautiful fall colours, I am thankful.
I am thankful for many things; family, friends, puppies, nature, delicious food, and a community that supports our flower shop. I am also thankful for the opportunity to do what I love daily by creating floral arrangements for special occasions.
As a floral designer, I am asked to contribute to so many of the events in your life. We are here to send flowers to a special someone on their birthday or create your wedding day bouquet. Say I love you with anniversary flowers, tell someone you are thinking of them, and many more of life’s special moments. One of the most meaningful events: when I am asked to create the flowers for your loved ones’ final goodbye.
Last week, I got a call from a girlfriend of mine that I went to high school with. I was told that her mother was being kept comfortable and it was only a matter of days before they would need to let her go. I was often at her place as a teenager and got to know her family well. As a result, I was welcomed like their own child and a part of the family.
When she asked if I would do the flowers for her mother’s celebration of life, I was moved to tears. I am honoured that she wanted me to surround her precious mother with her favourite flowers.
When her father called me to thank me, the sound of his voice and the way he spoke about his wife, family, and service, filled me with gratitude. I realized how thankful I am to be able to do what I do and who I get to do it for.
