Let’s Decorate Your Home for the Holidays!

Are you ready to embrace another winter wonderland by bringing the magic into your home? Pour yourself a warm cup of cocoa (don’t forget the marshmallows), and blast some cheerful tunes so we can transform your home into a masterpiece even Santa would envy!

What I love about the winter season is family, festive treats, sitting by the fire with a glass of egg nog (with or without the rum), and decorating my home for the holidays.

We are thrilled to be once again taking part in Homes for the Holidays, an annual fundraising event to raise funds for Hospice Care Ottawa. Tivoli has participated in this important event since Homes for the Holidays began in 2002. 

The tour has been virtual both last year and will be again this year. This is known for being one of the biggest fundraisers for Hospice Care.

Much planning and preparation go into decorating someone else’s home, an event that the team and I look forward to with renewed excitement every year.

When it comes to holidays, a wreath is one of the most traditional and popular design elements in any home. Some common features we see (and carry in the shop) include berries, pinecones, eucalyptus, twigs, ornaments, and bows. We also have a DIY Wreath Kit!

Which plants should be on your “nice” list? Some popular picks include Christmas Cactus, Poinsettia, Pines, Amaryllis, and Myrtle.

Did you know that Christmas ornaments originated in Germany? The idea of decorating a tree began with fruits and nuts once the leaves fell off to symbolize the promise of spring to come. A few favourites we currently have on the shelves include felt mice, rustic metal, birds, and angels.
