10” Strelitzia Nicolai – Giant White Bird of Paradise

Strelitzia Nicolai, better known as the Giant White Bird of Paradise, is the plant you get when you want serious jungle energy in a room. Huge paddle-shaped leaves on tall upright stems give it that architectural, banana-tree look, and at 10″ pot size it’s already a serious focal point.

Give this one what it wants – real light – and it’ll keep growing into a showstopper, eventually rewarding you with those striking white-and-blue bird-shaped blooms. It’s a big personality plant, but the care itself is pretty straightforward once it’s got a bright spot.

Care at a glance:

Light: Bright indirect light, with some direct sun preferred. It needs real light to thrive and eventually flower.

Water: Water when the top few inches of soil have dried out.

Humidity: Enjoys higher humidity but does fine in average home conditions.

Pet safety: Mildly toxic to pets if chewed – can cause GI upset like vomiting or drooling, but it’s not considered severe. Still best kept away from curious pets.
