10” Strelitzia

The Strelitzia, or Bird of Paradise, has large, glossy, paddle shaped leaves on tall upright stems, an architectural plant that fills a room with a lush, tropical presence. Mature plants can produce dramatic, crane shaped blooms with enough light.

Care: This one wants as much bright light as you can give it, including some direct sun. Keep the soil lightly moist, watering when the top inch or two feels dry. It also does best when slightly root bound, so don’t rush to repot it.

A note for pet owners: Bird of Paradise is mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, so keep it out of reach.
