2.5″ String of Bananas
$12.50
Meet String of Bananas (Senecio radicans): a trailing succulent with plump, curved leaves that really do look like tiny bunches of bananas cascading over the pot.
It’s a fast grower and easy to love, quickly filling out into long strands that look amazing spilling from a hanging basket or a high shelf. Give it a bright spot and this succulent basically does the rest: new growth pours out all season long, making it a favourite for anyone who wants big trailing drama without a lot of fuss.
Care
Light: Bright light is a must for this one: it loves some direct sun (a few hours of morning or evening rays is ideal) plus bright indirect light the rest of the day.
Water: Let the soil dry out completely, then give it a deep drink. Those plump “bananas” store water, so it’s far more forgiving of neglect than of overwatering: root rot is the real risk here.
Humidity: Average room humidity is perfectly fine: no misting or humidifiers needed.
Pets: Mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested (it contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that can cause GI upset), so hang it up high and out of reach of curious noses.
