1.5″ Lithops Living Stone
$10.00
Meet one of the strangest, most charming little succulents out there. Lithops, nicknamed living stones, are tiny plants that mimic pebbles almost perfectly, splitting into two fleshy leaves that look like a cracked stone from above. At 1.5″, each one is a tiny curiosity that reads more as rock than plant at first glance.
They’re incredibly slow growing, so what you’re bringing home is already the result of patient work. Lithops go through a strange and wonderful yearly cycle: the old pair of leaves shrivels away as a brand new pair emerges from the center.
Care
Lithops want bright light, including a few hours of direct sun. A south facing windowsill is ideal.
Watering is the one thing to get right: less is more. These plants store water in their leaves and rot easily if overwatered. Water only sparingly, mainly during the growing season, and hold off almost entirely when the leaves look plump and full. Wait until they look shriveled or wrinkled before watering again. No extra humidity needed, normal dry indoor air is fine.
Lithops are non-toxic and safe to have around pets.
