Let’s get started on this plant-astic journey:
Step 1: Choose the Right Pot 🌟
Opt for a pot that’s larger than the current one and has proper drainage. Plastic or terra-cotta both work well, but keep in mind that terra-cotta absorbs more moisture, requiring more frequent watering.
Step 2: Free Your Plant 🌿
Gently remove the plant from its current container, taking care not to damage the roots. If it’s stubborn, try squeezing the sides of the pot while gently pulling the stem’s base.
Step 3: Loosen the Roots 🎉
Using your fingers, remove excess soil from the root ball. Loosen the roots, allowing them to spread out and explore their new space.
Step 4: Address Root Bound Issues 🪴
If the roots are tightly bound, you can make vertical slits along the sides or cut a deep X in the bottom of the root ball using a knife or trowel. This helps the plant establish new roots in the surrounding soil.
