When it comes to seasons, there’s something magical about Autumn. Maybe it’s the colours or the fashion. But if you ask us, it’s the fall decor that we live for! So grab yourself a cup of cider, and a slice of pumpkin pie, and embrace the season… and maybe even a DIY?
Hosting an event or special occasion should be memorable, or else why would we bother? That being said, getting everything you need can be overwhelming if you don’t have a plan. There are a few things to be mindful of when it comes to Autumn design choices. Here are 4 to get you started: Colour, Balance, Scale, and Plants!
Design With Fall Decor Like A Pro!
Colour: A very common mistake people make when it comes to decor is by going overboard on the colour. It happens, nobody’s perfect! Autumn is the season for warm neutrals. Stick with brilliant reds, golden yellows, dark oranges, and rich browns and you can’t go wrong! Avoid light and cool tones: white, pastels, dusty blues or pinks as it doesn’t compliment your warm decor.
Balance: There is such a thing as “too much”. This could relate to the number of pillows you have on a sofa, lights, textures/patterns, and colour (food is always the exception, you can never have too much!). Keep it simple, pick out a few accent pieces, and let your centrepiece be the star! It enhances the experience.
Scale: Avoid trying to make sure everything is the same height. A bit of contrast is a good thing! Similar to when we craft a floral arrangement, you’ll notice that we will use different sizes and shapes. If we used the same height for every piece, it wouldn’t have the same “wow factor” that we are known for. The same applies to your decor design.
Plants: Is it a surprise that we added plants to this list? I think not! Plants have a big part to play when it comes to designing both interior and exterior. Adding a plant will fulfill a decorative function, but they also freshen the air you breathe.
